Object “500.000” is an ironic comment on the real estate development’s sale offers, promoting flats that have less than 10 m2; they are made from leftovers left from bigger flats due to the capitalistic postulate for a radical maximization of profits. It is a consequence of a difficult state in the Polish housing industry because prices keep growing and hardly anyone can afford a flat at a basic standard. Those tiny dwellings are being called “luxurious micro-apartments” because Polish law forbids selling a flat that has less than 25 m2. Developers persuade in such offers, that a comfortable life in such a small space depends only on one’s ability to good self-organization. I created a model of such a micro-apartment, which was inspired by a photo in a real offer. The lack of space contrasts here with an effort to create a luxurious vibe by using decorations motifs associated with wealth and prestige. The walls of the model are covered with coaching-styled, motivational slogans, like “Grow Big By Thinking Big”, “Some People Dream Of Success While Others Wake Up Early And Work For It”, “Don’t Be Busy, Be Productive” placing all the responsibility of one’s living conditions on an individual.
