Artistic Work

In “Artistic Work” I reflect upon different compositional works or sets of activities, which collectively make the continuation of my artistic career still possible. Every niche presents another kind of activity. Among them are blue-collar jobs, whose the only goal is to earn money – such as working by grape harvest or by conservation of murals – while others are unpaid, but also necessary aspects of artistic activity, like networking or dealing with the bureaucracy (applying for competitions, residencies, etc.). This work has not only autobiographical meaning but also is a more general comment on the socio-economic situation of professional artists in my country because most of us are left without any kind of financial support from the public sector. Consequently, this job is constantly unstable and is bound with the necessity of constant juggling and searching for funding from various other fields. The surface of the sculpture is covered with photos from my private archive, depicting me making a living in odd jobs, which enabled me to continue my artistic career.
